Vacancy Description:

Our client is part of a large multi million pound group that have office throughout the UK. They are paying excellent salary/packages/benefits for the right candidate.
Responsible for: Developing and closing sales opportunities for the Asbestos removal and surveying businesses.

Job Purpose: Planning and delivering sales activities, so as to maintain and develop sales of Asbestos Removal and Surveying to UK major accounts and new customers, in accordance with individual targets and agreed business plans.

1. To generate revenue through long term framework agreements and short term projects our clients Environmental Services team.
2. To develop prospects through traditional sales activities to identify customer's requirements and to engage those that are ready for further discussions about procuring our clients asbestos related services.
3. To conduct face to face presentations and client meetings.
4. Work with the Environmental Services operations team specifically to ensure that the information gained is appropriately passed on and that the operations team are enabled to undertake the appropriate next steps with the prospect.
5. Regularly report back to the senior management team on the progress of lead conversion through statistics, reports and, where applicable, anecdotal evidence.
6. Work with the bid manager to ensure that the right level of support and information is being given to assist with submission of asbestos related bids and proposal documents.
7. Working with wider team to , develop lists of top targets, identify the total number of leads and monitor business in progress to contribute to the achievement of environmental services targets.
8. From time to time it maybe necessary to, attend events with external stakeholders such as the Awards Ceremony, Trade Shows and conferences.
9. Assisting the commercial manager in maintaining appropriate commercial policies and procedures to deliver best value commercial solutions and innovation to the business.
10. Other activities as agreed with the Business development director

Person profile - Business Development Manager- Environmental Services

Personality: Self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook, and a clear focus on high quality and business profit. A natural forward planner who critically assesses own performance. Mature, credible, and comfortable in dealing with senior corporate executives. Reliable, tolerant, and determined. Empathic communicator, able to see things from the other person's point of view. Well presented and businesslike. Sufficiently mobile and flexible to travel up to a few days a month within the UK. Keen for new experience, responsibility and accountability. Able to get on with others and be a team-player.

Personal Situation: Must be mature and domestically secure. Able to spend one or two nights away per month without upsetting domestic situation. Able to commute reliably to office base. Able to work extended hours on occasions when required. Must have clean or near clean driving licence.

Specific Job Skills: Able to communicate and motivate via written media. Understands the principles of bid production, including interpretation of requirement, bid strategy, features-benefits-solutions, cost per response, cost per conversion, etc. Appreciates need for consistency within company's branding. Must be a reasonably competent writer of business letters, quotations and proposals.



Literacy and Numeracy: Able to understand profit and loss calculations and basic business finance, eg., gross margin percentages and calculations, depreciation, capital and revenue expenditure, cash-flow, overheads, etc.

Business and Selling Skills: Must be an excellent face-to-face and telephone communicator. Able to demonstrate success and experience managing major accounts customers and large contracts or even a business, particularly achieving genuine sales development. Ideal background would be in business support services; experience of window and contract cleaning industries would be particularly helpful. Experience of tenders would also be useful.

Management Ability: Though internal staff management is not initially part of the job, responsibility and opportunity could grow with the development of the business, for example the prospect of recruiting and managing support telesales staff. Some people-management skills, experience and natural ability will be useful.
