A UKAS accredited asbestos consultancy that provides asbestos environmental issues throughout the UK has an excellent opportunity for Lab Analyst to join their asbestos department in Glasgow - Scotland.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, an enthusiastic but analytical approach, an eye for detail and accuracy, be flexible and reliable, and be able to work as part of a team and without supervision.

It is preferred applicants have the P401 Proficiency Certificate in Identification of Asbestos in Bulk Samples (PLM), and previous experience of working in a laboratory environment.

However, candidates with the right aptitude to be trained and then sit and pass this BOHS module will also be considered. A basic level of IT knowledge in Microsoft Office packages is required with strong organizational and time management skills.

Key Responsibilities:
The main focus of the role is to analyze and report on the fibre content of both internal samples and samples submitted by various clients. Full training will be given and specific aspects of the role include:

o Receive and appropriately log samples received by the laboratory
o Prepare samples for analysis
o Carry out analysis of samples for fibre content
o Report analytical findings (could be either electronic or hard copy report)
o Ensure appropriate storage and retention of samples

The position is full time, with core working hours of 0900hrs to 1700hrs Monday through to Thursday, Friday 09:00 hrs to 16:30 hrs (37hours per week); however additional hours may be required dependant on workload.
